September 11th is National Pet Memorial Day.
Join us as we celebrate National Pet Memorial Day on September 11, 2016 honoring our pets both past and present.  Held each year on the second Sunday in September, this prestigious event was established more than 40 years ago by the International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories in recognition of the important role that our beloved pets play in our lives.
Here is our Office Manager, Rachel's sweet pug, Billy Bob. He was 13 1/2 years old when he passed away. He was a very well-loved dog. It is always very hard to lose a pet and family member.

World Rabies Day Sept 28 2014     World Rabies Day is an international campaign which is observed on September 28, 2016. September 28 is the anniversary of the death of Louis Pasteur who, with the collaboration of his colleagues, developed the first efficacious rabies vaccine. The United Nations Observance is coordinated by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control, a non-profit organization with headquarters in the United States and the United Kingdom. World Rabies Day takes place each year.
World Rabies Day aims to raise awareness about the impact of rabies on humans and animals, provide information and advice on how to prevent the disease, and how individuals and organizations can help eliminate the main global sources. Events held to mark World Rabies Day range from symposia on current rabies control methods and public events for raising awareness about good prevention practices, to sponsored walks, runs or bike rides, to free or externally-subsidized vaccination clinics for dogs.

Rabies is a viral disease that causes acute encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) in warm-blooded animals. The disease is zoonotic, meaning it can be transmitted from one species to another, such as from dogs to humans, commonly by a bite from an infected animal. For a human, rabies is almost invariably fatal if postexposure prophylaxis is not administered prior to the onset of severe symptoms. The rabies virus infects the central nervous system, ultimately causing disease in the brain and death.

Rabies remains a major concern worldwide, killing more than 55,000 people every year.  In the United States, one to two people die annually, and there were more than 6,000 reported cases of animal rabies in the U.S. in 2012. World Rabies Day was officially launched in 2007, and aims to raise awareness about the public health impact of human and animal rabies.
What can YOU do?  Vaccinate your animals and keep them away from wildlife that can spread the disease.  Rabies is 100% preventable.   According to Dr. Charles Rupprecht, chief of the rabies program at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "Your local veterinarian plays a key role in controlling rabies."

Events to promote rabies awareness are being held across the world on September 28. Visit the World Rabies Day website for more information.

Fall is almost officially here and the chill is in the air.  It's a beautiful time of year with changing leaves, coats and sweaters, and many holidays.  But there can be special dangers to our pets that we should be aware of.

What Our Customers are saying about us -

    • They actually cared about me and my pet. The staff gives awesome service and you can tell they genuinely care about you and your pet. Everyone was really friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortable. It's much different than the hospital feel we are use to when going to another vet clinic before. Thanks everyone for all that you do!
